When we set about creating Water Babies in 2002, little did we think that within six years we'd be in hundreds of locations across the UK, Ireland and Sydney, with more than 15,000 clients and 200 franchisees, instructors and admin staff having joined us. In fact, little did we think about anything, other than trying to survive the winter when we first started out, working as we were in a house in the midst of some serious renovations, with no upstairs windows or running water, the top of a fridge for a desk and, to cap it all, a new baby on the way!

It's interesting how very few ideas of parenthood are fully formed before having kids. With the arrival of ours, we quickly realised that we both passionately believe it's as vital to provide as varied a range of stimuli for your children when they're under five as it is when they're older. After all, if 75% of all brain growth happens before the age of three, surely it's the ideal time to present them with as much as possible to learn from. 

It?s one of the reasons we're so very proud of the work we do at Water Babies. We know we've created a course that will teach your child one of life's core skills: confidence in water and, ultimately, the ability to swim. In 2008, within the space of ten days we had two two-year olds save themselves when accidentally falling into water, and that made us immenseley proud. 

Yet baby swimming offers you so much more besides. It's a chance for you and your baby to socialise with like minded parents; a chance to do an activitiy together that you both adore. The confidence you both gain in the water will often then increase your sense of confidene on land and the stimulation of a completely different environment will see your child thrive.

Since we started, Water Babies has grown to be the world's largest baby swimming company. An awful lot of hard work and dedication has created this growth. We never underestimate the effort it's taken on the part of our instructors (mostly ex-clients and therefore mothers). Each has had to find the time in their already hectic lives to complete their mainstream swimming qualifications before carrying out their Water Babies training - often taking them away from home for several weeks at a time. We never underestimate the commitment and enthusiasm of our franchisees. Again, most are ex-clients, all of whom were motivated to set up their own classes by their passion for baby swimming.

And of course we never underestimate you, our clients. The vast majority of you join us as a result of being recommended by friends - a fact of which we're not only very proud but will always do our best to see continue. And once with us, it's your enthusiasm to embrace the fun of the lessons and your joy in seeing your children's excitement that, for all of us, makes everything completely worthwhile.
